Kamaile Maldonado

Kamaile Maldonado was raised in Halawa and her ʿohana has roots in Kakaʿako. She has two B.A.s with honors in Sociology and Intercultural Communication from Pepperdine University and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. She is currently pursuing an LL.M. in Indigenous Peoplesʻ Law & Policy at the University of Arizona with a research focus on Indigenous rehabilitative models and alternatives to “justice”. Kamaile is a licensed attorney and presently serves as a Public Policy Advocate at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs where, for the last 10 years, she has engaged in policy development and legislative advocacy on behalf of Native Hawaiian interests in the fields of historic preservation, criminal justice system reform, and civic engagement.
